Director of Community Relations and Sustainable Development
The Senior Community Relations Advisor is responsible for supporting the implementation of Fresnillo plc’s community relations approach and social performance standards, specifically for the Novador gold project located in Val-d’Or, Québec, Canada. This role aims to establish and maintain lasting, constructive relationships with local communities and stakeholders, identify and manage social risks at the project level, and ensure the effective application of corporate policies, standards, and commitments — with the overarching goal of fostering social acceptance of Fresnillo plc’s mining activities in the region.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage and coordinate the site-level community relations team, including supervision and performance monitoring.
• Coordinate the development and implementation of the site’s community relations and stakeholder engagement plan.
• Act as the primary senior point of contact between the project development team, local communities, and stakeholders.
• Proactively identify, assess, and manage potential social issues.
• Provide strategic advice to the project management team on community dynamics, risks, and opportunities.
• Participate in the ongoing identification, mapping, and analysis of stakeholders at the site level, including assessment of interests, influence, and potential social risks, in order to strengthen engagement strategies.
• Develop and maintain lasting, trust-based relationships with local communities, First Nations, authorities, and civil society.
• Organize and participate in community information, consultation, and engagement activities.
• Ensure that community concerns and expectations are clearly understood, managed, and documented.
• Oversee the tracking of community requests and ensure they are addressed appropriately within a reasonable timeframe.
• Supervise the implementation and monitoring of community agreements, commitments, and programs.
• Track performance indicators, maintain records, and produce reports for site management and corporate teams.
Required qualifications
• University or college degree in a relevant field related to social sciences (anthropology, sociology, communications, public relations, etc.).
• Significant experience in community relations, stakeholder engagement, or social performance.
• Experience in regulated environments and in the development of mining projects or large-scale projects, ideally in Québec or Canada.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and sensitive issue management skills.
Experience
• Social risk management, grievance management mechanisms, and best practices in community engagement.
• Experience in relations with First Nations.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary corporate teams.
Skills and abilities
• Sound judgment, tact, and well-developed political acumen.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent interpersonal skills fostering inclusion and collaboration.
• Fluency in both French and English, oral and written.

Fresnillo plc is one of the world’s leading precious metals producers, with operations and development projects across the Americas.
In 2024, Fresnillo acquired the Novador Gold Project in the Val-d’Or mining district — one of Canada’s most established and prolific gold camps. The project is currently advancing through feasibility and represents a significant long-term development opportunity in Quebec.
